The supercar with a very loud name Ferrari 458 Italia was revealed to the public at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2009. One year later Ferrari Italia officially went on sale. As of 2010, about 1200 cars were sold - a very decent number for the elite class car. The devoted audience accepted the debut of the Ferrari 458 Italia very warmly.
Top Gear host Clarkson said it was the only car he had expected that year. In terms of the exterior, the Ferrari 458 Italia echoes with its predecessors. In the 458th model, the classic Ferrari style is successfully combined with innovative ideas. The exterior design of the Italian supercar was developed by specialists from the Pininfarina studio, and the interior of the Ferrari 458 Italia was designed by Donato Coco, the chief designer of Ferrari.
The appearance of the Ferrari 458 Italia has completely new features, never before used among Ferrari models. Although if there is an opportunity to trace some common lines, then the wedge-shaped design of the supercar is based on revolutionary innovations designed to improve aerodynamics. The front part of the Ferrari 458 Italia includes one large inlet for air access, which comes in proportional air ducts located closer to the front wings. In the cavity of the air tubes they elegantly built small elastic aerodynamic wings, designed to increase the clamping force of the Italian supercar and reduce drag. In the rear part of the body, in its upper part, there are two large air ducts, located in front of the tail lights, provide direct cooling of the engine compartment.
Also at the rear, there is a triple exhaust pipe in the Cue style, reminiscent of its legendary F40. The front suspension of the Ferrari 458 Italia is a two-link type, the rear multi-link. The standard equipment includes a damping control system with "intelligent" adaptive shock absorbers. Depending on the choice of dynamic modes with the "manettino" switch and driving style, the damping characteristics of the suspension are automatically adjusted. In the standard edition, the car is equipped with light alloy wheels with 20" tires of different sizes: 235/35 R20 (front) and 295/35 R20 (rear). The ground clearance of the supercar is only 113 mm, while the car can be equipped with an optional Front Lift system, which is able to raise the front of the car by 4 cm. It is a good decision for obstacles such as "lying policemen". Speaking of the safety systems, the Ferrari 458 Italia has the latest technology on board.
The VDA (Vehicle Dynamic Assistance) system manages the algorithms of the engine, transmission, suspension and brakes. The driver can control the interference settings of the TCS and ESP systems (traction control and dynamic stabilization system) up to their full deactivation. The equipment also includes front airbags, side airbags, anti-lock brakes with disc ventilated brakes front and rear, power steering, bi-xenon headlights, rain and light sensors, tire pressure monitoring system, cruise control, dynamic cornering lights. The car is driven by a 4.5-liter V8 (camber angle of 90 degrees) with direct fuel injection. The engine produces 570 HP and 540 Nm of torque. The engine with the 7-step robotized gearbox F1 is aggregated. Such specs allow the 458 Italia with a mass of 1380 kg to accelerate from 0 to 60 in 3.4 seconds.
