Introduction
The BMW X6m offers proof that realities of global warming and a worldwide economic meltdown cannot end automotive excess. This impractical luxury SUV is over the top by any spec you can name and has a seating capacity of four and spare cargo capacity.
The X6 M sits on the base of the frivolous X6 and its performance-theme starts with a stronger twin-turbo V8, a sharper suspension, bigger brakes, and grippier tires. It definitely flips to human decency and common sense with every dry run to redline.
You won’t find a rational reason to buy a BMW X6 m here, in fact, we are sure there isn’t one. The X6 M was designed for drivers who feel that the concept of a 5,300-pound high-riding hatchback with supercar performance gloriously absurd.
0-60 and Engine specs
This high-performance SUV has a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 which cranks out 555 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive allows the engine to catapult the X6 M from zero to 60 mph in a ridiculously quick 4.3 seconds.
The X6 M is the rocket ship of the group with its thundering, for those who must have more, 567-hp, 553 lb-ft version of the V-8. The X6 M has its air suspension setup and beefed up sway bars, as well as handling many low-riding sports cars, albeit again without a whole lot of steering feel. This is more than just an engine.
Exterior and interior
Although BMW has added some dynamic enhancements to make it more athletic, the X6 M isn’t all engine. The unique sport-tuned suspension with adaptive dampers is responsible for the X6 M’s fantastic handling prowess, standard 20-inch wheels and performance tires also help.
The steering system adapts effectively to both sporting occasions and parking lots, and at the same time, the ride remains livable. There is no hiding how large and heavy the BMW X6 is primarily on a tight road.
The X6 M is a high-end BMW and gets full complement of luxury feature like parking sensors (a must given the X6's compromised visibility), adaptive xenon headlights, a panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery, sublimely supportive power front seats, the iDrive electronics interface, a navigation system and a 16-speaker audio system. Automatic soft-closing doors, a head-up display, a multiview parking camera, a rear entertainment system, and smartphone integration are the options.
The M does not offer an optional three-person rear bench, unlike the regular X6 version, meaning only four people can fit in. Regarding cargo capacity, the sizable X6 M has a low 60-cubic-feet maximum. Typical car-buying logic may not apply here, but the related BMW X5’s performance pairs pretty much with the real SUV versatility.
Verdict
The X6M has sleek lines, a plush interior, and a coveted badge on the hood, all which make it a style item. For something that weighs 5000 pounds, it’s stunningly quick and handles more like a sports car. A 567-hp twin-turbo V-8 powers it. Up to 100 percent of torque may be routed to either front or rear wheels, depending on driving conditions, and an eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive are standard. It might be less practical than the boxy X5 M, but it’ll turn more heads.
