Audi S4 Introduction
As the first compact automaker’s sports Sedan, Audi S4 has a price that is slightly above the Audi S3. It is, however, priced lower as compared to Audi S6, S7, and S8 sedans. The S4 model is the fourth in Audi’s “S” series of sports four-door vehicles.
The 0-60 historical journey has been a tremendous one. By comparison, the current supercharged models at the peak of 325 lb-ft were made available from 2900 to 5300 rpm. Now, the car can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in an incredibly short time slot of 4.7 seconds. According to the manufacturer, there has been a record of 4.9 seconds from their outgoing car with a 60-speed manual. Its top speed is only governed by the obligation to maintain lower than 155mph.
Engine specs
The new S4 model will be powered by a turbocharged 3.0-litre V-6 Engine. It is an equivalent to 354 hp and 368 lb-ft mated to whooping high-speed transmission. As if that is not enough, the S4 will no longer have a manual transmission. Despite the fact that we have not got the chance to drive the Audi S4, the Audi A4 that it is designed to emulate plenty of impressive technological features.
It is also enriched with executive interiors. The turbo engine used in the S4 has an extra torque. This is the main reason why Audi has opted to switch from the 7-speed dual-clutch transmission to an 8-speed torque converter auto. While there is a possibility that a six-speed manual may be offered, we would not want to hold our breaths on something that seems far-fetched. That is because Audi and its competitors have been dropping the manual transmissions. The latest victim of the case is the Audi R8 supercar.
Exterior & Interior
When it comes to sporty cars, the looks matter. The interior should be as comfortable as possible while the exterior should be welcoming. The Audi S4 has been set apart from its prototype the A4 by the “S” aesthetics accouterments. This includes new side skirts, aluminum mirror caps, and amazing rear bumper with four exhaust tips.
The sporty seats of the S4 are all high backed leather and fiber. The seats are available in three colors; Black, grey, and Magma red. There is also a comfortable fiber trim to the seats. If you have enjoyed the A4 virtual instrument cluster, then you will love the S4 version.
It adds a specific sports view on the S4 that displays tachometer precisely at the center.
Verdict
Even though it lost the 4.2-litre V-8, the S4 was somewhat old school. However, it still proved that even some seemingly old technology machines could still provide excellent results. With the new feature, engine upgrade, exterior and interior makeover, there is no doubt that the all-new Audi 2017 is made to rule the road. If you are looking forward to the Audi S4, you are not alone.
