While most of the news columns are buzzing with the news of Chrysler 200’s sudden discontinuation (by the end of this year), most dealerships are getting a couple of newly built models. Available at a lower price and backed by all the incentives, these cars are designed to tempt those consumers who are looking to crack the real deal. We weren’t pretty impressed with the 200 since this second generation car came to the market during the middle of 2014, where it posed as a 2015 model.

But despite that, we also haven’t been as critical as the members of the Consumer Reports, who placed the 200 on their list of ’10 worst cars of 2016’. On the track, this 200 could easily race from zero 60 mph in 5.7 seconds, which is 0.3 seconds quicker when compared to the 2015 200S AWD. The latter also weighed 267 pounds more than our conventional 200. The 200 also comes with pretty decent acceleration. It has been found to accelerate around 30 to 50 mph and 50 to 70 mph along the pointy end of its performance spectrum, that too in a class which is not popular for its performance. Neither Chevy nor the Ford offers a V-6 engine in their 2016 average-sized sedans, nor are they offering six-cylinder power like our 200.

The Chrysler 200 can accommodate five people. Just like every other trim level, the best seats are located in the front which also has a pretty good passenger room and comfy cushions. The sleek appearance of this car, however, cuts down the seating space. This is perhaps most apparent in the car’s back seat.

Although the interior measurements of the car are similar to the variants of Chevy Malibu, its slender sides and relatively low roofline makes up for the scanty passenger space along the back. The car comes with a decent list of standard features like a rearview camera, a charging port (USB), a push-button enabled start, audio controls that are mounted to the steering wheel and of course, a proximity key among many others.

There is also a pretty decent list of catalogs for anyone who’s looking to upgrade the car. So you could always tailor the 200 to be as funky or subdued as you preferred. Some of the options include leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, heated seats, dual-plane sunroof, automatic climate control and an Alpine sound system with nine-speaker mode.

Chrysler 200 can have its drawbacks, but it’s not a bad car. It comes available in one of the lowest prices, its interiors are pretty and high-end, it offers decent performance in a crash, it comes backed with a massive trunk, and most importantly, while you’re driving the car, it’ll provide you with pretty decent gas mileage.

But unfortunately for Chrysler 200, midsize cars are one of the most competitive categories available, and none of its features seem enough to make it truly stand out. Cars like Honda Accord, Toyota Camry and Ford Fusion tend to fare way better than this both in terms of price as well as features.
