You’d be surprised that you’re not the only onlooker who can’t tell the difference between an A4, A6, and an A8. Audi does a good job at baffling us. However, a closer look at the new A4 brings to your realization a much bolder and mature exterior. It is, however, not revolutionary.

This is because Audi’s efforts have been geared towards its technology. Also, 100 kgs have been shed off. Sadly, the drivability hasn’t seen much.

The dual-clutch is more responsive and reacts well to the launch and shifts control. The former can be engaged by simultaneously holding the accelerator and brake on the floor while you select sport mode on the transmission in drive and choose the same mode for stability control. At 3000 rpm, the engine revolutions rise and settle. The brake can then be released at this point. The A4 weighs about 3671 pounds and can hit the 60mph mark I 5.2 seconds. The new BMW 328i shares the same stats and both are 0.4 seconds quicker than the A4’s predecessor. The 4-wheel drive provides for a spin-free flight. A quarter of a mile is covered in just 13.9 seconds at 100mph.

There’s a 12-inch LCD behind the steering wheel that is quite an impressive sight. It can be configured with either small gauges or in full-size. It provides comprehensive Google map and trip information. It’s also available in the R8, Q7 and the TT. The display remains crisp and legible even in direct sunlight. The entire interior is still as impressive, no matter what color is used. The A4’s luxurious touch isn’t too overstretched. It features expensive plastics, well-sculptured shapes, a switchgear that fits well into your hands and real aluminum. The shifter adds onto the remarkable interior by switching into a hand rest.

All in all, the new Audi A4 is a big improvement and anyone hoping to get one will have no regrets.
